Our indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tub offers a water management system and a solid-state ozonator. Ozone is a natural and easy way to maintain your water, and reduce the amount of chemicals necessary to maintain sparkling clean water. Ozone burns up organics in your water thousands of times faster than sanitizer alone.

Are all hot tubs designed the same?

No. There is a great deal of thought toward the design of any new hot tub. Will it fit users of all sizes and shapes? Does it support the bather while muscles relax? Are the jets placed in the right place for every type of user? We take all of these questions into consideration when designing our hot tubs so that we maximize your comfort.

Is a indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tub expensive to operate?

Depending on your usage, an average hot tub costs less than $1 per day to run, even in the coldest climates. Chances are that’s less than you’re paying for cable TV. Ways to significantly reduce even that modest expense include an insulated locking cover with UL rating, fully foamed cabinets and computer controls with ‘smart winter mode’ features! Additionally, because of their variable force design, our pumps draw as little as one amp during the filtration cycle for reduced energy consumption.

How do I know which indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs are right for me?
Many factors are involved in making a decision: family size, installation space and budget, to name a few. The very best way to determine which indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs is right for your needs is to talk with your local dealer about your specific needs. We encourage you to test soak every model you are considering - even models from other manufacturers. After you've purchased a indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs are not the time to discover it's not what you thought it would be.

Are these hot tubs designed for indoor or outdoor use?
The top lip of our hot tubs extends beyond the wooden/synthetic cabinet and this important feature ensures that they are ideally suited to outdoor as well as indoor use. Spas look great either indoors or out, although most are installed outdoors.

Do you provide Operational Videos?
Yes. Each model can have a video (if you like) that covers the basic operations of the indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs and controller functions.

Does the indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs require special electrical service?
If you're doing more than plugging the indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tubs into a household outlet, we strongly recommend that you contract with an authorized dealer or electrical contractor to conform to the electrical code requirements in your area.

What makes your cushioned headrests different from pillows?
Our cushioned headrests are made of EVA that holds up to the harsh hot tub environment much better than standard foam pillows.

What is the maximum temperature of a indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tub?
The maximum UL-approved set temperature for any hot tub sold in the United States and Canada is 104°F. This has a variance of 3°F. Which means the indoor hot tub cannot be set above 104°F but the temperature can fluctuate to as high as 107°F and still be within UL standards.

Where can I get an owner's manual?
You may download manuals and other documentation in our webiste.

How much should I spend on a indoor hot tub or outdoor hot tub?The price of a hot tub is determined by workmanship, materials, size and features. Other options, like lighting packages, stereos, TV and DVD players, will increase the overall price.

What type of hot tub should I look for? That will depend on the size of your family, your available yard space, your required depth of seating, the options and features you seek and your budget.

Hot tub or spa?

The terms "spa" and "hot tub" have been used synonymously in the business since the early years of the industry. Originally they meant two different things; ‘spa’ was used to describe a therapeutic bath built out of acrylic or some other thermoplastic, while ‘hot tub’ meant a circular bath, or tub, usually wood. Wooden hot tubs were popular as recently as the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, but were soon eclipsed by the rapid advances of portable acrylic spas. Still, the term ‘hot tub’ stuck.

Questions of the pump for our hottub

What type of pumps do you use?
We use the high gallons per minute pump in the hottub industry.

Do I want bigger or more pumps?
More or bigger pumps draw more amps and therefore may increase your electric bill. In addition, there is only so much water and air that can go through your jet system. Junisland hottub match "flow to jets" for maximum action and very little wasted energy.

How important is horsepower for my hottub?Very important, in our opinion. We think high-output hottubs is the best because you can reduce their flow when required. But don’t get confused by numbers; the real test is flow rating — determined by the amount of water pumped each minute. Turn every jet on and feel for yourself. Without a large powerful motor, you may be required to purchase multiple pumps or reduce the number of jets in your spa. Ask to see a manufacturer's flow chart rating. A simple visual test is viewing the size of the pipes leading into and out of the pump. The larger the pipe size, the higher the flow. Check the amperage rating, too, which is clearly printed on the pump. Higher amperage = higher power.

What is the difference between a motor and a pump of my hottub?
Simply put - the motor is what drives the pump, which pumps water through the massage jets, which make you feel good! The motors are carefully chosen to give more therapeutic jet action with less horsepower, so you use less electricity and save money and the two speed variable pumps maintain perfect temperature control keeping your hottub clean at the same time by running a programmed cleaning and heating cycle with the Management System.

How do I protect plumbing and motor when hottub is drained for winter or extremely cold climate?
a. Remove the front panel.b. Drain c. Loosen discharge unions on pump and retighten when refilling spa tub for next use.d. With a wet and dry vacuum hose on blowing mode, place blower hose on each open jet, blow air into lines and close the jets as you complete each one. The idea is to move the water out of the jets. Some jets, such as revolving and shoulder jets cannot be closed.e. Remove excess water from filter well, clean filter and store.f. Remove excess water from all seats and footwell.g. Place cover on hottub and support center in the event you are in a region that gets heavy snow.

Questions of installation for a hot tub.

Is my hot tub tested prior to shipment?
Yes. All JUNISLAND hot tubs are checked for air and water integrity. In addition, the heater and all functions of the hot tubs are fully tested.

Do I need a contractor, plumber or electrician to install my hot tub? JUNISLAND hot tubs recommend a licensed electrician to power up your hot tub. Our hot tubs are completely self-contained — just fill with a garden hose. You also need a strong, level foundation to provide a level water surface and years of trouble-free enjoyment.

Is plumbing required to install my hot tub?No. All hot tubs are self-contained units and are simply filled with a garden hose. Some pool contractors install spas in-ground, but these are usually plumbed directly into a swimming pool equipment area.

Do I need to take care of any special plumbing needs?
No. JUNISLAND hot tubs come completely pre-fabricated, including built in heating and filtration systems. Just drop your hose in the spa tub and within a few hours, you’re ready to go!

What if I want my hot tub indoors?
When locating your hot tub indoors, follow National Electric Codes and all other local codes. Proper building materials should be used in the area surrounding and beneath the hot tub. Any water which splashes or leaks on the floor can cause a slipping hazard. Carpeting around a spa can be damaged by chemically treated water splashing on it. Providing forced air ventilation in the hot tub room will minimize moisture to the hot tub room. A ventilation fan will extract humidity and is recommended. Proper water drainage must be provided.

Where can I put my hot tub?
You can put your hot tub anywhere you like, indoor or outdoor. If it will be inside, we recommend one of the Patio hot tub because they can be easily installed, as they fit through all standard size doorways. If it will be outside, we recommend a flat level surface such as a 1 piece concrete slab or a pier & beam constructed deck.

What kind of requirements should I consider regarding installation?
Your hot tub needs to be placed in an area where it will rest on a solid, level surface. A wood deck, concrete pad or pea gravel area are all popular surfaces. Be sure to check your local codes and after installation, watch for any settling or erosion that could move the hot tub out of level.

Where is the best place to put my new hot tub?
The ideal location for your hot tub is about 10 feet from your back door. This means that in cooler weather it's more comfortable getting to and from the hot tub and it also means less wire to install.

All you need is a flat, level spot which can be accessed easily and bear in mind that a full hot tub can weigh several tons if you are planning to put it onto the decking. If you are partially sinking the hot tub then also bear in mind that access will be required to the pump/motor. They can also be installed inside the home.

What do I need for delivery and installation of my hot tub?
As already mentioned you will need a solid flat base, normally a concrete pad and either a 16, 20 or 30 amp power supply direct from an RCD in your electrical distribution board, with an external isolating switch. Lots of people like to prepare this themselves.

Questions of using and cleaning for a hot tub or a spa tub

How long should it take to warm my spa tub up?
It really depends on a few things. If the spa tub is hooked up for 220V, it will heat much faster than a spa tub that is simply plugged into an 110V 15amp household outlet. The 220V units heat up an average of 10 degrees per hour. If it's an 110V plug into the wall model then overnight would be recommended.

Heat: how much is enough for me in my hot tub?
We recommend that the water in your hot tub should not exceed 104°F/40°C. Comfortable temperatures around these are considered safe for healthy adults. Lower temperatures are recommended for extended use and for young children & the elderly. Pregnant women must consult their doctor before using a spa tub. of course a well-insulated, average-size hot tub with a good cover make you use less electricity

Can I control the spa tub from my house?
Yes. With JUNISLAND's Command Center remote control panel you can mount it indoors and check the spat tub's temperature. This is a great concept when there is a foot of snow on the cover of the spa tub.

Does my spa tub filter automatically?
Yes. It has factory pre-programmed settings that turn the spa tub's circulation pump on and off which filters the water. The default settings are permanently set at the factory and not lost during a power outage.

What chemicals will I need for my spa tub?
A time release bromine floating cartridge is recommended. Never use Solid Chlorine Pellets or sticks as they could damage the spa tub equipment and finish and void the warranty. A test kit will help determine the PH balance of the water. There are chemicals to increase or decrease PH, as needed. A non-chlorine shock is also needed.

What do I clean the spa tub shell with?
Use a mild, nonsudsing, nonabrasive cleaner for most cleaning jobs. Rinse well and dry with a clean cloth. Clean grease, oil, paint, and ink stains with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Do not get alcohol on wood, as it may discolor in the sunlight. Do not use an abrasive or harsh cleaner on the spa tub shell.

How often do I drain my spa tub?
JUNISLAND Spa recommends that you drain and refill your spa tub every 120 days. Do not hesitate to drain the spa tub more if needed or wanted. If water becomes difficult to clean, gritty die to large dirt deposits, clouded with body oils and any other situation that results in hard to maintain water chemistry. See your home owner’s manual on complete instructions on draining and filling your spa tub.

During winter time do I have to drain my spa tub?
The winter time is often the best time to use your spa tub. A cold clear night can make the spa bath feel even better than usual. Keep in mind that your spa tub must remain wired and on in the winter months to protect against freezing temperatures. JUNISLAND Spas are manufactured with a Balboa control pack (If you like) that protects against freezing and will automatically come on if the water temperature reaches 40 degrees F. Freeze protection is enabled regardless of spa bath status. In the case that you do want to drain your spa tub in the winter months remember JUNISLAND Spas strongly recommends you get a qualified service company to perform a winterization on the spa tub. The winterization process includes draining the spa tub, pumps, lines, and suctions of all water and ensuring that all equipment is free of water. Damages to your hot tub if winterized improperly will result in severe damage to components and is not covered under JUNISLAND Spas warranty.

Does the spa tub need to be drained after every time it is used?
No, you do not need to drain the spa tub after each use, but you should keep an eye on water quality. Testing and proper treatment will keep water clean and inviting.Draining and refilling is normally required every three months, and you don't need to worry about hurting your back bending into your spa tub to bail out, as there is a floor drain just as in your bath. Your spa tub also comes with its own filtration system and the filter cartridge will need to be removed and rinsed from time to time. We recommend however you do this at least fortnightly to extend the life of your filter but most importantly to ensure your water is crystal clear, clean and safe. Another good idea is to buy an extra filter and rotate use between sets. This will extend the life of your two sets of filters to around 3 years.

Can my hot tub be used all year round?
Of course! Many people use a hot tub in the snow! There's nothing better than sitting in the warm waters on a winter's evening staring up at a starry sky - How romantic!

Will my spa tub freeze if there is a power outage?
Depending on the air temperature, it is more likely that your spa's pump will freeze first. The water in the spa tub is better insulated and will take a great deal longer to freeze. A short power outage should not be a problem, but there is nothing, short of a backup generator, to stop this from happening to your spa. Emptying and winterizing the spa is another option, if you have a concern.

Are they easy to get in and out of my spa tub?
The models with grab rails help a lot, but we have steps available for purchase to enable ease of access into and out of our hot tubs.

What is Ozonation (Water purification system for a hot tub) and how does it work?

Ozonation purifies hot tub water by killing micro-organisms in conjunction with the hot tub's normal chemical application. The ozonator converts oxygen (O2) into ozone (O3). The extra single oxygen atom binds with other organic substances like bacteria and viruses causing the organic substance to oxidize. So in essence the ozone eats up the bacteria and viruses which in turn keeps your hot tub clean!

SPA tub cover and Polyurethane Foam of Junisland

Why is a thermal cover important?
The thermal cover retains most all of the heat that has been built up in the spa over a period of time. Without a cover, any spa would struggle to bring the temperature up to desired temperature. We provides a heavy duty cover with each spa standard. These covers come complete with tamper resistant locks and keys.

Do I need a spa tub cover?
Yes, your spa tub is like a pot on the stove. When the cover is removed, the heat starts to rise into the air. The spa tub will not heat properly without the insulated cover.

What is “WeatherWrap”?
We called spa tub cover and Polyurethane Foam “WeatherWrap”. It's like a warm, blanket that's placed around the spa tub. It provides reflective heat value for the minor amount of heat lost through the plumbing harness.

What is "R-Value" versus "Reflective Value"?
R-Value is a rating of how long heat/cold takes to transfer through, let's say a home's exterior wall. "Reflective Value" is a NON transfer of heat/cold and really works better in the spa tub concept. Fully foamed spas actually act as conductor of heat loss when a leak occurs and the foam is saturated. Look at your portable cooler, double pane window and amount of insulation in the refrigerator and stove. Don't be misled by energy savings estimates.

Are your spa tubs energy efficient?
Absolutely, using more foam does not increase the spa's ability to retain heat. Extensive testing has proven that reflective heat retention is actually better than R value estimates, because R value represents "heat transfer" or loss.

Why aren't your spas fully foamed?
Quite frankly it isn't needed for support or heat retention. It is common knowledge that almost all heat dissipates out of an uncovered spa tub, so excessive support foam really does nothing except support weaker spa tub shells and creates potential service nightmares.

Are there any pitfalls buying a fully foamed spa tub?
If you plan to own your spa tub for a long time, you should know that either due to age, handling or mice chewing on the plumbing, spa tubs could eventually leak. Finding a leak in a fully foamed spa tub is virtually impossible without removing the foam. Ask any spa tub service center for their opinion. It's an expensive, labor intensive repair as water leaks migrate and do not originate where you think they will. Spas that do not have the strength of JUNISLAND profess the use of full foam to the spa when they're really trying to support the shell and save money.

What are the health benefits of using a hot tub?

We believe the number one health benefit of owning a hot tub is improvement in your quality of life. Owners experience a new and unique opportunity to get together with family and friends in a fun and sociable environment while reducing the stresses inherent in today’s busy lifestyles. Abundant documented evidence further shows that the regular use of a hot tub can help to reduce and control the symptoms associated with arthritis, sleep disorders and Type 2 Diabetes.

Hydrotherapy is simply muscle therapy through the use of hot water that is bubbling or pulsating. And is has been found to be an effective treatment of many types of muscles aches, especially arthritis. In fact, the National Arthritis Foundation recognizes that a daily treatment in a hot tub may lead to relief from tension, and improve flexibility and range of motion.
